True soap is created using a combination of fats/oils and lye and go through a process called saponification to turn into soap. It is this cold process method that we use to craft all of our soaps from scratch using only the most skin loving natural butters, oils, clays and essential oils. No synthetic or artificial colors or ingredients are used by Uncommon Suds.

No secrets here! All of our skin loving ingredients are transparent and listed on each individual product page and on every label.

Never! No artificial fragrances or artificial colors are ever used in any of our products. We only use pure essential oils for scent and natural clays or botanicals for color. Lip balms are flavored with natural flavors.

Our superfatted formulas (extra oils) are mild, but we recommend a patch test first, since some essential oils can cause sensitivity in some individuals. We strictly follow IFRA limits to ensure all essential oil usage conforms to industry standards. For the most sensitive skin, try one of our unscented bars without any exfoliants. Our soaps are safe for facial use, but avoid contact with eyes.

While palm oil is safe to use, we have made the conscious choice not to use it for ethical reasons. Palm Oil is known to be unethically produced and harvested resulting in massive deforestation, habitat loss, and human rights issues. We use ethical alternatives like coconut, olive, and rice bran oils for a cleaner conscience and great lather.

Yes. Every batch is pH tested for safety and stability before we sell it.

There is no lye in our finished soap bars. We use lye to make our soap, but none remains after saponification and curing.

Our soap and lip balms are best if used within 6 months of purchase. After this period of time, the soap will still work, however scents and colors may fade.

Typically, when used daily, and stored properly, our soap bars, will last a month or more.

Commercial bars are usually detergent‑based with synthetic ingredients and the glycerin removed. This is why your skin feels tight or dry after you bathe. Our real soap bars are made with nourishing oils, retain natural glycerin, and have no synthetics ingredients for a more moisturized feel.
